The open source xWire framework is both a framework and a programmer's toolkit and is based upon several popular open source libraries. It is generally used to build Java-based web applications, but is flexible enough to use in other types of applications. It is ideally suited for building AJAX style applications and consists of both the xWire client and xWire server, each of which can be used independently of the other. The toolkit has many innovative and useful features, which you can read about here. It has been used to develop both Internet-facing and internal enterprise applications for several Fortune 500 corporations and many other large organizations.
